5 TIPS TO HELP YOU RELAX AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS!

Whether you’ve been enjoying the benefits of being plant based for a while, or it’s a recent lifestyle change, the holidays can be a tough time to try and maintain your healthy behaviour. We want to give you some tips to help make sure you stay on track and enjoy the holiday season!

1. RELAX

After all it is the holidays… and usually they are stressful enough so try to relax. Take a few breaths and chill out. This may mean you’re going to have to relax about maintaining your usual eating habits and possible exercise routines. We’re not saying you need to give up or give in, but you’ll need to remember that not everyone will understand or accommodate your lifestyle. Just go with the flow, and try to enjoy the holidays. 2. BRING A DISH

Prepare for yourself… to assure you won’t be starving at your holiday outing, bring a dish or two (something like Skinny Sweet Potato Vegan Quiche or Vegan Tiramisu Brownies ). I am sure no host would argue with you bringing some food to share. This will help alleviate some stress for them as well as yourself. Better yet – host a gathering yourself and only serve plant based dishes, this is a great opportunity to introduce the delicious lifestyle of plant based eating to those around you. Just maybe be prepared to answer a few questions. 

3. LET GO OF “PERFECT”

When it comes to your fitness, understand that this is a busy time of year and you may miss a workout. It’s not the end of the world. Really. Just make sure you get the next one done. Also if you find it challenging to make time for your full routine, don’t do it! Just exert yourself for 10 minutes if that’s all you have. Your body responds to the challenge of exercise, not to the amount of time you spend doing it. Challenge your whole body with this “AB ATTACK” WORKOUT that will take 30 mins or less. 

4. STAY CONFIDENT & NON-JUDGEMENTAL

Like we mentioned earlier, you’re bound to get some questions from family and friends. And although plant based eating is nothing new, people still have a lot of misconceptions about what it’s really all about. Don’t shy away from answering any questions — just be confident in your answers. Be honest about why you chose to live a plant based lifestyle, whether it was for health reasons or ethical reasons or what, but don’t preach. 5. BE PRESENT & HAVE FUN!

With all these steps in plan , let go of the outcome and focus on what is truly important. Be present with your family and enjoy every moment you get with them – this will fuel your health on a much larger scale than any super-food will ever do!
